“Coming Apart & Coming Together”
Contemporary Intersectional Feminist Theory and its Application to the Body, Society, and Identity
Wednesdays • Online • March 23 – May 18 • 6-8pm ET • 18 CEUs • $550
We are living through the ongoing global, collective trauma of the COVID-19 pandemic in addition to heightened social unrest and political discord. Applying WTCI’s rich history of innovative approaches to clinical practice, this seminar for practitioners will explore current challenges in psychotherapeutic encounters. The seminar incorporates intersectional feminist theory and includes three pillars: body, society, and identity. Participants will learn skills to navigate the complexities of embodiment, size, race, gender, class, and social location in clinical practice. We will also discuss the importance of decolonizing mental health.
By participating in the nine-week seminar participants will be able to:
· Understand the underpinnings of contemporary feminist theories as they relate to social issues
· Respond more effectively to issues of social location and difference as they come up in treatment
· Navigate the space of social issues in relationship to clinical theory and practice
We will accept a maximum of 15 participants to maintain the intimacy cultivated by WTCI clinical training. This seminar provides 18 CEUs for qualifying practitioners.*
